My name is Jessica Blackburn and I'm an Illustrator and Art Educator located in Southwest Missouri. I have lived in the Ozark Mountains my entire life and traveled the world to study art and art history. Now, I create fun little worlds and characters using colored pencils, gouache, watercolor and graphite as well as digital art.
I am inspired by nature, motherhood, and teaching in the high school art classroom. From a very young age, I have been enamored with picture books and the power that they hold for young readers. I have been creating picture books since the young age of five and I currently illustrate for all ages to enjoy. My interests include my husband, my son, our golden retriever, our sweet black kitty, family and friends, everything about autumn, especially Halloween. I love a good ghost story.
As a mother and educator, I see the importance of childhood literacy and I pride myself in creating picture books that will benefit a child's life and ultimately our future.
Nice to meet you!
